The CMT Music Awards ceremony took place on Wednesday, June 6 in Nashville, Tennessee and were hosted by Country singer Toby Keith and “House of Lies” star Kristen Bell.
The fan-voted awards show honors country music videos and television performances. Winners included Carrie Underwood for “Video of the Year,” Luke Bryan for “Male Video of the Year,” Miranda Lambert for “Female Video of the Year” and Lady Antebellum for “Group Video of the Year.”
“American Idol” winner Scotty McCreery won the CMT Music Award for “USA Weekend Breakthrough Video of the Year.”
This year’s ceremony featured performances by Willie Nelson, Kenny Chesney, Lady Antebellum, Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley, Zac Brown Band, Toby Keith, Rascal Flatts, Pistol Annies, The Band Perry, Hank Williams Jr. and ‘American Idol’ alumni Lauren Alaina and winner Scotty McCreery.
President Obama and Republican presidential front-runner Mitt Romney also made an appearance, in a pre-taped segment, where they refused to take sides in who should host the annual Awards show – Kristen Bell or Toby Keith. After they decided that both hosts were necessary, the pair arrived on stage in a massive red solo cup, in reference to Keith’s hit song.
Presenters for the ceremony included Tom Arnold, Steve Austin, Tony Hawk, Ashley Green, Colton Dixon, Denise Richards, Dax Shepherd and Jordin Sparks.
