Nigel Lythgoe speaks out
American Idol boss Nigel Lythgoe has hit out at claims that the feud between judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj earlier this month, was for ratings.
Questioned by TMZ over the allegations, Nigel, who was propositioned whilst out and about in LA, said:
“I have no idea why I would be doing it [for ratings] five months before the show went out.
“I would only do ANYTHING for ratings a month before the show went out. They’ve got my timing wrong.”
Asked about how Mariah and Nicki got on after their feud, which reportedly saw Nicki threaten to shoot Mariah, Nigel insisted:
“They (Nicki and Mariah) were amicable that afternoon. I think before anyone makes any judgements, they should watch the show.” (Not for ratings eh?)
Whilst Nicki and Mariah’s feud rocked the entertainment world, it appears that their war of words also caught the attention of the President of the United States of America.
Having called into Michael Yo’s radio show, “The Yo Show,” President Barack Obama said: “I think that they are going to be able to sort it out, I am confident. I’m all about bringing people together, working for the same cause, I think both outstanding artists are going to be able to make sure that they’re moving forward and not going backwards.”
