What’s more powerful than one celebrity? A celebrity couple. We always have a few rich and famous couples on our Celebrity 100 list and this year will be no exception. The full list won’t hit the web until Wednesday, but here’s a taste of some of the famous twosomes on it.
Jay-Z and Beyonce
Despite their massive combined earnings (last year we estimate they brought in $72 million), Jay-Z and Beyonce have never been about flaunting their relationship. When the couple got married in 2008 few people knew about it. The pair also got a jump on the press this year when they released their own photo of baby Blue Ivy before the paparazzi could get a snapshot of her. Baby Blue is poised to become part of the Jay-Z Beyonce empire. The pair trademarked the baby’s name.
The power couple earned $76 million between May 2010 and May 2011 and they make our list again this year. (Earnings for the upcoming list are from May 2011 to May 2012). Brady and the Patriots may not have won the Super Bowl but Brady’s dejected post-game pose inspired an Internet meme. After the game, Bundchen got in hot water for criticizing her husband’s teammates. Brady and Bundchen each get plenty of money from endorsements as well as the money they bring in from playing football and modelling.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie
The past 12 months were big for Pitt and Jolie. The couple (who have been together since 2006 and have six children) got engaged in April. Pitt was nominated for his fourth Oscar, this time for the film Moneyball, and Jolie wrote and directed her first film, In the Land of Blood and Honey. The movie, about the Bosnian war, earned less than $1 million. Jolie is now returning to big-budget films, starring as Sleeping Beauty’s evil queen in the upcoming Maleficent. Pitt’s also going big: His next movie is the zombie film World War Z.
