Rihanna’s latest single Diamonds has topped the Billboard Hot 100 Songs chart in the US making it the singer’s 12th number one.
It means the Barbadian singer is now joint fourth with Madonna in the list of artists who have had most chart-toppers in America.
Only Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey and The Beatles have had more US number ones.
The star has just completed a seven-day promotional album tour.
She tweeted: “I’m still floating high on my 12th number 1 single!!! That’s what happens when you smokin on #DIAMONDS.”
Unapologetic, her seventh studio album, is released on Monday (26 November) and has gone to the top of the iTunes album charts in 43 countries.
The album includes a collaboration with ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, who was charged with assaulting her three years ago.
Last year’s single We Found Love featuring Calvin Harris is also featured, as are tracks with Eminem and David Guetta.
The singer is also touring the UK next year and has added two extra dates including a performance at Twickenham Stadium.
