The trailer for the latest Quentin Tarantino film “Django Unchained” hit the web earlier this week and features a few glimpses of Leonardo DiCaprio as a villain.
The film, which appears to be inspired by spaghetti Westerns, tells the tale of slave in the South named Django (played by Jamie Foxx) who is recruited by a dentist turned bounty hunter named Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz) to help kill a gang of murders known as the Brittle Brothers. Django is the only person who has seen them without masks on. For his help, Schultz will give Django his freedom and help him free his wife, Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), from a plantation slave owner named Calvin Candie (DiCaprio).
The trailer for the “Django Unchained” can be seen below. This film is Tarantino’s first film since the 2009 movie “Inglorious Basterds,” which Waltz starred in and won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Samuel L. Jackson, who frequently collaborates with Tarantino, will also appear in the film as Stephen, the head house slave at Candie’s plantation.
Foxx and Washington previously played husband and wife in the film “Ray,” where Foxx starred as Ray Charles and won the Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in 2004. DiCaprio was also nominated in that category that year for his role in “The Aviator” but lost out to Foxx.
The film is set to be released on December 25, which is the same release date of DiCaprio’s other big film for the year, “The Great Gatsby.”
