As we get older, there are various saying and clichés we feel obliged to satisfy. While ‘life begins at 40’ might be positive for most people, men can often see it as a time when they have to start slacking off in their fashion, and famously start to wear dodgy Farah pants and wear ill-fitting jeans, t-shirts, and poorly manufactured faux leather jackets.
However, men don’t have to be a slave to age as they get older. That’s why we’ve skipped the 40s and 50s and gone straight to 60. Obviously, you can use these tips to look great as soon as you hit middle age, but we’re thinking about making you the hippest looking grandfather in the neighborhood, obviously without making you look like you’re trying too hard to retain your youth.

Dressing Your Age
The only rule here is to keep it simple. That means ditching fancy cuts of trousers – denim IS still acceptable, worn right – and getting rid of t-shirts with patterns or slogans. However, you should still go for clothes that are right for your frame, particularly if you’ve spent years of your life working hard in the gym to maintain a physique.
Always Wear a Blazer
One of the biggest challenges of getting older and looking fashionable is maintaining a classic, timeless look without looking as if you’re trying too hard.
Thankfully, you only need one item to pull it off; the trusty blazer.
Another great thing here is that you have free rein over what you wear. You might want to avoid slimmer, more clinical cuts best worn by super skinny frames, but in terms of color and detail, you can get as creative as you want.
What we will say, however, is that you might want to avoid statement tailoring; some of this year’s biggest lines don’t even look good on twenty-somethings.
Tasteful Jewelry
Just remember to follow the rules we’ve stuck to this far; understated and as uncomplicated as possible is the path to perfection when it comes to jewelry. Try to stick to wearing one or two, the days of older mean wearing rings on all their fingers as status symbols have long since passed.
Looking Good at 60
Don’t let advancing age be a barrier to looking stylish. Choose simple pieces, dress it up with a blazer, and wear tasteful jewelry with an edge. Looking good at 60 is easier than you ever thought, and there’s nothing to stop you keeping yourself well in the fashion game as you progress through life.
