And despite her fears, she didn’t “screw it up.”

Prior to belting out the “Star Spangled Banner” at Super Bowl XLVI, Clarkson admitted how nervous she was in a post on her WhoSay account.

“Just finished rehearsing the anthem in Indy … wow, I’m actually really nervous about singing at the Super Bowl ha!” she wrote. “Here’s hoping I nail it and don’t screw it up!”

The two-time Grammy winner, donning a fitted black dress, tackled the song after Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert’s performance of “America the Beautiful.”

After the game, the Texas native checked in with fans again, writing, “Guess what ….I’ve never been more nervous in my life than singing the national anthem at the Super Bowl tonight ….wow that was almost not fun I was so nervous! Fun night overall though! Thank you everybody for all of the nice things you’re saying about my performance! I really appreciate it 🙂

Clarkson’s performance comes a year after Christina Aguilera was criticized for her rendition of the national anthem at the Super Bowl.
