The racing driver is considering the role in the Ron Howard film that will be about battles between racing drivers.

It was while Lewis acted as a consultant on Rush for the Oscar-winning director that won over Howard, who has said that if Lewis wanted a role – there would be one.

At the Empire Film Awards earlier this week, where he picked up the Inspiration award, Ron said: “Lewis is great. The most impressive thing about him is that he came from a humble background and climbed to the top of his game.

“I had a long chat with him while starting work on the film, he was basically a consultant. “I don’t know if he would go for it. There should be a role for him, if he wanted it.”

The new movie will focus on the the rivalry between former Austrian formula one driver Niki Lauda, played by Daniel Bruhl, and the late Brit driver James Hunt, who will be played by Thor actor Chris Hemsworth.
