R. Kelly referring to himself in the third person this week proclaimed that he would eventually get back to writing the type of explicit lyrics that made him famous.
The famous R&B singer went romantic on his last two albums but told Yahoo News during a phone interview:
“Absolutely not, and I tell people all the time man. Make no mistake about it, R. Kelly is not going anywhere, it’s just that R. Kelly has such a unique talent, and I’ve been blessed to be able to do all type of genres of music … I’m exploring my gift right now.”
Kelly’s last two albums titled Write Be Back and Your Body’s Callin’ were both critically acclaimed and according to the song writer they were both an attempt to step back from his explicit nature and experiment with new personal forms of song writing and performing.
“When you’ve done twentysomething years, man, of giving people what they want, and satisfying people — people like to say they’re making babies off your music, they’re doing all this — it makes me feel good, but at the same time, it makes me say, ‘OK, now it’s time to go and do something that’s in me that I want to do and get out,’” he said.
R. Kelly’s new album titled Black Panties will be more explicit with Kelly calling it “my next 12 Play.”
With a history of explicit lyrics and a video that surfaced in which Kelly was caught urinating on a 15-year-old girl I’m not really sure how he can shock us any further with his explicit lyrics.
