Rihanna said that the donation, which was allotted to buy three pieces of medical equipment, was her way of “giving back to Barbados,” according to AP. She made her comments during a Saturday ceremony with relatives at the island’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

The hospital’s radiotherapy unit has been renamed the Clara Braithwaite Center for Oncology and Nuclear Medicine after Rihanna’s grandmother, who died in June.

The singer hasn’t directly addressed the donation on her Twitter account, which she uses avidly, but did re-Tweet her brother Rorrey Fenty’s post that said “bless you” with a corresponding link to a story about her donation, to which she responded, “thanks broski #granDolly.”

The personality would often Tweet photos of her grandmother as well as post them on her official Instagram page. She often referred to her as Gran Dolly in her posts, and even shared intimate details about her birthday in March.

On July 1, Rihanna mourned the loss of her grandmother and shared memories and photos of her beloved grandparent with fans. Using the hashtag #grangranDOLLY, the singer wrote about her grandmother on Twitter and posted several links to Instagram photos of her grandmother. Some photos featured a younger Rihanna with her loved relative.

In September, the “We Found Love” singer showcased what at the time was her newest tattoo, which she had inked in honor of Gran Dolly. The tattoo runs underneath her chest and shows the Egyptian goddess Isis with bird’s wings splayed across the singer’s torso. The goddess is seen as a symbol of motherhood and was believed by many to be the mother of the war god, Horus.

The singer recently released her seventh studio album, “Unapologetic,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album broke records in its debut week and marks her best-selling album ever with sales exceeding 238,000 copies. The performer’s single “Diamonds” also hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.
