Opportunists flog ‘The Casual Vacancy’ on eBay

Signed copies of JK Rowling’s new novel ‘The Casual Vacancy’ are being flogged for up to £1,000 online.

Opportunists who turned up to the author’s reading at the Southbank Centre on Thursday were only interested in selling their rare edition online at a high price.

Currently on AbeBooks there are three signed copies available – ranging in price from £600 to £995.

Speaking tot he Daily Record, a man named Mark confessed: “I’m not a JK Rowling fan. I’ve not read any Harry Potter.

“I just managed to get hold of a ticket so that I can get a book signed. Her signed Harry Potter books go for thousands and she’s signing a lot fewer books than she used to.

“My book will go on eBay. I’m here for that really.”

The novel, from the woman behind the Harry Potter franchise, has already sold 2.6 million copies on pre-order alone.
