Entertainment Tonight first reported on the split on Saturday, saying the two “ended things up a few weeks ago.

The outlet reported that the split “wasn’t dramatic,” adding, “The relationship is just beginning to run its course.

Neither Swift nor Alwyn have directly confirmed the split.

ET confirmed that the split was the reason the British actor didn’t join the show. Taylor, 33, and Joe, 32, began dating in 2016 and are known to keep their relationship a secret.

The couple were rumored to be engaged (or possibly married), but no one confirmed this.

In his interview with WSJ magazine last year, Joe remained tight-lipped about whether he planned to walk down the aisle.

Fans have speculated over the years that many of Taylor’s songs were about Joe, but Taylor said that Lavender Haze from his latest album, Midnights, was actually inspired by their relationship. I have confirmed that.

In an Instagram video posted in October ahead of the album’s release, Taylor said she wrote Lavender Haze about their romance after learning the phrase from an episode of Mad Men. Like my six-year relationship, we’ve had to fend off weird rumors and tabloids, but we ignore them.

Joe has been credited on several Taylor songs over the years using the alias William Bowery, including five tracks from Taylor’s 2020 album, Folklore. Now that the two have split, the Swifties are expecting a very sad breakup album.
