She was seen making a joke with Kristen Stewart about the dangers of tripping over as theHollywood pair arrived on the red carpet.

But it seems that Jennifer Lawrence might have cursed herself as she did exactly that on the biggest award stage in the world.

After winning an Oscar for Best Actress, the 22-year-old can be forgiven for going a bit Bambi and being a bit wobbly on her legs.

When she attempted to climb the steps on her way to accept the famous little golden statue she fell slightly and was left holding her head in her hands with embarrassment.

Jennifer regained her feet thanks to a helping hand from Hugh Jackman and she looked slightly bashful – like she had just stacked it on a first date at an ice rink.

The actress received a standing ovation from the Hollywood elite.

She told the super famous audience: “Thank you so much. This is nuts. You guys are only standing up because I fell and you feel bad.

“That was embarrassing.”

Jennifer won the Oscar for her role in Silver Linings Playbook and later thanked  her co-stars and team for their support before being a good sport with a kind heart and wishing her fellow nominee, Amour star Emmanuelle Riva a happy 86th birthday.

She wasn’t the only person who suffered a bit of embarrassment at the big event, though.

Organisers were left red faced after a toilet flooded into the lobby theatre as stars were arriving.

Nobody addressed the leak during the 85th Academy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday night, but witnesses adding that nearly half of the reception area was covered.

Staff inside the Dolby Theatre tried to save the situation by taking on the flood with hoovers and mops.

We’re sure there’s an old wives tale about using white wine to get rid of stains…
