Whoopi Goldberg Lashes Out at Mitt Romney on Twitter

If Mitt Romney thinks going on The View will help his campaign do damage control after he wrote off 47 percent of American voters in a secretly leaked video, he’s already got a steep hill to climb with Whoopi Goldberg.

The comedian and View cohost took to Twitter yesterday to offer up a series of scathing tweets slamming the Republican presidential nominee for his ever-changing political positions and a seeming desire to be all things to all people, calling him a “confused candidate.”

“Tweet to Mitt Romney, I once had a great deal of respect for you and many of ur stances,” Goldberg tweeted, pointing to Mitt’s health care accomplishments in his home state of Massachusetts and his previous support for abortion rights. “Well Mr. Romney the man I was talking about turned into a man who flushed his ideals down the drain.”

The funnylady suggested the conservative politician has since emerged “a confused candidate, confused about what he really stands for and WHO he stands for.”

“Yes once I thought there was the possibility of a moderate Republican who could make the race with Obama at least interesting,” she wrote, before adding, “But that was months ago before your desperation to be President made u forget your ideals. Yes sir a long time.”

Ouch! Perhaps Whoopi thought she was talking to an empty chair?
Goldberg concluded her rant by noting that Romney did what no other politician had done when he was Massachusetts governor—provide near-universal health care to his state’s citizenry in a program that became a model for Obamacare.

The Romney campaign has no comment on the Oscar winner’s remarks, but Mitt will have a good opportunity to address them directly as he’s scheduled to chat up Goldberg and her female cohorts during an appearance on the daytime gabfest in October.

President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama meanwhile are set to tape their first joint appearance on The View this coming Monday.
