World leaders to appear at NYC’s Citizen Festival

NEW YORK (AP) — The leaders of India, Bangladesh, Norway and the United Nations are set to appear at the Global Citizen Festival headlined by Jay Z on Sept. 27 in New York’s Central Park.

India’s Narendra Modi, Bangladesh’s Sheikh Hasina, Norway’s Erna Solberg and U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon are all slated to appear at the event, organizers announced Thursday.

Other musical acts include fun., Carrie Underwood, The Roots, No Doubt and Tiesto. Celebrity hosts include Hugh Jackman, Jessica Alba and Katie Holmes.

Tickets are free for the event, but they must be earned through acts meant to help end extreme poverty around the world.

The festival coincides with the U.N.’s annual gathering of world leaders. It is meant to spotlight the needs of the world’s poor.
