Choosing between the HTC One and Sony Xperia Z

  • When it comes to dimensions, the Sony Xperia Z is larger than the HTC One, figuring at 71 x 139mm with a 5-in screen. The HTC One is slightly smaller, fetching at 68.2 x 137.4mm with a 4.7-in screen.  The Xperia Z is thinner with a 7.9-mm thickness as opposed to the One’s 9.3-mm thickness. The HTC One, however, is lighter at 43g as opposed to Sony Xperia Z’s 146-g weight.
  • In terms of build, both smartphones are beautifully designed, and you may find them more aesthetically-pleasant that the Samsung Galaxy SIV. HTC One has an all-metal chassis while the Sony Xperia Z’s front and back is made of tempered glass with anti-shatter film.One advantage of the Xperia Z over the HTC One is its water- and dust-proof feature.
  • With a 1080 x 1920-pixel resolution for a 4.7” screen, the HTC One boasts the highest pixel density yet for any smartphone, having 468 pixels per inch specifications. The Sony Xperia Z boasts of a respectable 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution for its 5” screen, giving it a pixel density of 443ppi.
  • Sony Xperia Z features a 1.5GHz Qualcomm quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor with 2GB of RAM while the HTC One offers a better-performing 1.7GHz Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor. Both smartphones run with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system, which is a little pout-of-date when placed side by side with Google Nexus 4’s Android 4.2 Jelly Bean software.
  • When it comes to camera performance, the two smartphones apply different principles, with the HTC One using an UltraPixel camera that has only 4MP resolution. This allows more light to be captured by the camera, which means that the user will be able to shoot images faster and apply filters more quickly. The Sony Xperia Z, meanwhile, went with the current trend, possessing a 13MP camera that is capable of recording videos in Full HD 1080-pixel resolution.
