How to Get the Most Fun and Exercise from Spring Cleaning with Your Family

Did you know that spring cleaning can be a great way to shed those excess pounds? Actually, it does more than that. You don’t have to go to the gym, and your family will thank you. In fact, you may even get the family involved and make a fun day out of it, especially if you have kids.

Cleaning as Workout

Health experts agree that cleaning can be considered exercise. It provides the same benefits without the expenses that people spend on gyms, equipment, etc. You don’t even have to leave your house if you need the exercise. Just start cleaning up in your bedroom, your living room, your dining room, until you’ve cleaned the entire house. This depends on how many hours you spend cleaning, but you’re bound to have worked up quite a sweat after a couple of hours. Imagine how many calories you’ve lost with that simple chore already.

Cleaning with Your Kids

If you have kids, then you’re in luck. Cleaning with kids can be a lot of much fun if you plan ahead and give them cleaning assignments that they are comfortable with. Not only will you and your kids enjoy spring cleaning, you will also get the chance to bond and make new memories as you rid your house of those unwanted dust bunnies and unload stuff that you all no longer want or need inside the house. Plus, cleaning with your kids is a wonderful chance for you and your kids to exchange “war stories” or funny experiences at school or at your virtual office. Cleaning with your kids can be fun, educational, and chock full of great memories that you and your kids will cherish for the rest of your lives.

Cleaning Out Your Closet

Another chore that’s so much fun to do and that helps eliminate those calories and excess pounds is cleaning out your closet. It gives you the perfect opportunity to give back to the community as you remove the clutter from your closet and donate it to the charity of your choice. Clothes that no longer fit can be someone else’s fashion statement or even serve as protection from the cold. As you ‘raid’ your closet, ask yourself: “Will I be wearing this anytime soon?” If the answer is no, then it’s best to unload that unwanted baggage right now and make room for new clothes.

Cleaning the Attic and the Basement

If you’re really serious about your spring cleaning, you can start from the top and work your way down to the bottom. Your attic probably holds a lot of stuff people would love to buy from you, perhaps at a garage sale–there’s another fun activity for you to do after you’re done cleaning your home! Your basement probably holds a lot of family possessions that no one ever uses anymore. Bring those things to your garage and sell them off to friends and neighbors who need those things more than you do.

Cleaning with the Family is Fun!

Spring cleaning doesn’t have to be a chore. It can be a great way for the entire family to bond–it offers opportunities to play around while cleaning, and you can remove clutter and give stuff that you no longer need to others who can still use them. Spring cleaning is a great way to not only lose excess weight but also excess baggage. The good thing about doing your own spring cleaning is that you enjoy the benefits without having to hire expensive cleaning ladies to take care of stuff that you can do yourself. Plus, you have the opportunity to get some exercise and have some fun while you’re at it! So what are you waiting for? Vacuum those dust bunnies and melt away those excess pounds today!
