PAUL POGBA has been challenged by Jamie Redknapp to become a Manchester United icon after returning from injury to star in the 4-1 win over Newcastle on Saturday.
Pogba scored one and created another to cap a man of the match display on his first appearance since September.
His performance enabled United to stretch their impressive unbeaten home record to 38 games and also keep tabs on Premier League leaders Manchester City.
Jose Mourinho was full of praise after the game, labelling the France international as different class.
After re-joining the club last year for £89million, Pogba struggled to live up to expectations with pundits and former players scrutinising his flamboyant persona off the field.
But he has begun to show his true potential this campaign, contributing to six goals in just five top flight games.
And former Premier League star Redknapp wants to see the 24-year-old continue his meteoric rise and become a club legend at Old Trafford.
Paul Pogba has all the ingredients to become a Manchester United icon. He is pure showbusiness, Redknapp told the Daily Mail.
He’ll get plenty of stick from old-school fans for the haircuts, the emojis and his Instagram profile but the kids love him. He is a modern football star.
Pogba is a showman on the pitch, too. He has all the tricks and flicks – and his dinked cross for Anthony Martial to head in the equaliser against Newcastle was pure class.
