President Barack Obama on Thursday visited the College Heights Early Childhood Learning Center in Decatur, Ga., where he elaborated on his plan to expand preschool dramatically — a focal point of his administration’s second-term education agenda and a topic of his State of the Union address Tuesday night.
In remarks, Obama told a crowd of teachers that his proposal aims to give every child early access to a high-quality education and that he sympathizes with parents who struggle to find — and afford — decent childcare.
“The size of your paycheck, though, shouldn’t determine your child’s future,” he said.
What’s unclear is how the administration will measure and evaluate early childhood education centers and how government will fund the program without increasing the national deficit.
Perhaps if the president conscripted the young gumshoes below to look for clues?
