Selena Gomez caused a stir with her pictures from her visit to the Abu Dhabi Grand Mosque. The “Come & Get It” singer had jetted over to Abu Dhabi to ring in the New Year with pals, including Kendall Jenner, Cody Simpson and Gigi Hadid.

When the group visited the Abu Dhabi Grand Mosque on Dec. 29, they posed for a couple of Instagram photos, which irked some who found her snaps to be disrespectful.

Gomez, 22, got most of the nasty comments when she posted a now-deleted picture of herself showing off her bare ankle. Gomez followers immediately began commenting on the snapshot, with some calling the pose offensive.

“I was just thinking, why purposely go to a sacred place and do something considered disrespectful?” one user wrote, according to Us Weekly.

Instead of commenting on the controversy, Gomez deleted the offending ankle shot and left only a group photo up from the visit.
