‘My Kind Of Love’ to be released on 28th May
Emeli Sande has released her new music video for her single ‘My Kind Of Love’ and has revealed that the promo’s inspiration comes from her time as a medical student.
It’s a heartfelt, emotive track, with tribal drums and echoey, ethereal vocals that reflect the raw emotion felt by the singer during her time studying medicine, before she embarked on her music career.
‘Our Version of Events’ is the biggest selling debut album of the year, with nearly half a million sales. It has remained in the Top 5 since its release eight weeks ago, and Sande hopes to top that success with her latest offering.
The track’s sentiment was inspired by the patients Emeli met on hospital wards in Glasgow. Emeli explains:
“During my time studying medicine, I found it hard to write, but one of the things that inspired me were the patients and the interaction that they had with their loved ones during their time of illness.
“When people arrived at the hospital, money and status became irrelevant and only health mattered, which sparked an honesty between people which was amazing to see.”
She also added: “This interaction, declaration of support and love, was something I wanted to portray in the video the track”.
Directed by Dawn Shadforth, it’s the tale of two sisters and their evolving relationship, the youngest sister (played by Laya Lewis, Skins) having been confined to a hospital bed.
