CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas, May 19 (UPI) — A set of identical female triplets were born to Silvia Hernandez and Raul Torres Saturday, but two of the babies are conjoined at the pelvis.

Doctors say the chances of such an event are 1 in 50 million.

Catalina, Ximena and Scarlett were successfully delivered via C-Section at Corpus Christi Medical Center weighing exactly 4 pounds, 11 ounces each. Scarlett and Ximena are conjoined at the abdomen and have been transferred to Driscoll Children’s Hospital for surgery and care.

The couple, also parents to a 3-year-old boy, live hours away from the medical center but have resided at the Corpus Christi hospital for about a month and a half in order to stay close to specialized care.

We’re going to love them no matter how they look and how they come out, the father told Kiii News.

After holding his single triplet, Catalina, for the first time, Raul said, It’s like a gift of God.

God chose us for a reason, to take care of them. He sent us little angels for a reason, so it’s a big blessing for us, he said.

The proud parents will care for the new babies for 6 months to a year before commencing the process of separation. For now, the babies are undergoing top-quality care with no reported complications.

The Hernandez-Torres family launched a GoFundMe page asking for donations to help them pay for the triplets’ medical expenses. Torres had to quit his job to care for his wife during her pregnancy — which left her bed-ridden.

The family has also launched a Facebook page to document their journey as new parents to the rare triplets.
