Chelsea and Ghana midfielder Michael Essien has said his Premier League

side’s time to has come to defeat Barcelona in the Champions League.

English Premier League giants Chelsea are set to

host Barcelona on 18 April in the first leg of the Champions League semifinal.

“We have played them a few times in the

last eight years or so and they are definitely beatable,” Essien was quoted as saying on his official personal

website.

“I have a feeling it’s our time to get one over on them,” he added.

Barcelona eliminated Chelsea from

the Champions League in 2009 when Andres Iniesta’s last minute goal sealed a tie filled with incident and

intrigue.

“The last time we played them (Barcelona) it was full of drama and had some superb football,” the

29-year-old said.

“That game had everything, including a couple of great goals. We had them where we wanted them, but

failed to finish them off and paid the price.”

Essien has had a difficult season, having played only 14 games in all

competitions so far after suffering from a torn ligament during the pre-season training camp.

He joined Chelsea in

2005 for £24 million.
