Kevin Garnett trade rumors suggest a Boston Celtics trade is getting discussed with the LA Clippers. According to a report from Sunday (Feb. 3), the Clippers are making a big push to try to acquire Garnett. This could be a huge trade for both teams, especially because the Clippers could use depth and the Celtics are looking to re-tool for the future.
There have been quite a few NBA trade rumors about the Celtics since Rajon Rondo went down with an ACL injury, but a four-game winning streak seemed to indicate that the team still has enough talent to compete. That hasn’t stopped Paul Pierce, Garnett, and young players like Jared Sullinger from getting mentioned in trade rumors. Now a serious offer from the Clippers may have been made.
In the rumored proposal, the Clippers would send former Kentucky guard Eric Bledsoe and veteran small forward Caron Butler for Garnett. Bledsoe is considered one of the hot young point guards around the league and quite possibly expendable from a Clippers team that already has Chris Paul as a starter. The question quickly becomes why the Celtics would want another point guard and maybe the answer is as simple as wanting to compete in the postseason this year.
These Kevin Garnett trade rumors have not been confirmed by team sources of the Boston Celtics, so it’s hard to get a full grasp on whether this might become a reality. On paper it seems to work for both teams and nabbing Garnett could certainly give the LA Clippers a huge push on the defensive end of the court.
