Trump’s Twitter alternative ‘Truth Social’ launches on Apple App Store

Truth Social, Donald Trump's new social media platform

Donald Trump’s new social media platform, Truth Social, launched early Monday on Apple’s App Store, paving the way for a return to social media for the former president, who was banned from all mainstream platforms last year after his supporters were accused of inciting violence during the January 6 Capitol Riots.

Truth Social, which describes itself as a social network without political discrimination, launched on the iPhone App Store late Sunday night.

People who downloaded the app complained that they were seeing error messages when trying to create their accounts.

Forbes has confirmed that several other users also received a message that their account has been created but are now on a waitlist.

According to the App Store images, Truth Social’s interface closely mimics Twitter, the platform that was most frequently used by former president Obama.

Early users of the app have reported signup issues, but it is unclear if this has anything to do with the purported delay of the platform’s full rollout until March. Last week, the New York Times reported that a full launch of Truth Social may be pushed back to March as the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) was set to merge with the company and take it public.
