Gloria Allred and transgender beauty queen Jenna Talackova attacked Trump over Miss Universe
competition’s rule requiring contestants to be ‘naturally born’ women
Donald Trump says Gloria Allred would be “very impressed” with his anatomy, after
the celebrity lawyer made a comment about the billionaire proving his masculinity.
Allred is representing transgender
beauty queen Jenna Talackova, who was
recently kicked out of the Miss Universe Canada pageant, which is co-owned by Trump. The pair attacked Trump over the
competition’s rule requiring contestants to be “naturally born” women.
“[Talackova] did not ask Mr. Trump to prove
that he is a naturally-born man, or to see the photos of his birth, to view his anatomy, to prove that he was male,” Allred
said at a news conference on Wednesday. “It made no difference to her. Why should it have made a difference to
him?”
Trump fired back at the high-profile lawyer in a phone call to TMZ.
“I think Gloria would be very, very,
very impressed with me,” he said. “I think she’d have a whole, brand-new image of Donald Trump.”
Trump added that he
will not apologize to Allred and “couldn’t care less” if Talackova competes.
The 23-year-old beauty queen, who
identifies as a female, claims she was disqualified from the competition because she was born as a male.
Officials
have since backpedaled and said she may be allowed to compete, “provided she meets the legal gender recognition requirements
of Canada, and the standards established by other international
competitions.”
