The Duchess of Cambridge must have been left open-mouthed yesterday when her brother-in-law
Prince Harry announced that she would be running the London marathon with her husband Prince William next
year.
The cheeky royal was presenting this year’s trophies to the winners of the race
yesterday to Kenyans Mary Keitany and Wilson Kipsang when he made the announcement.
“What’s fantastic is my brother
and his wife will be doing it next year,” the Prince told BBC’s Sue Barker, as well as the millions of TV viewers.
“I
have been trying to get myself a place for years. I can’t get myself a place. What do you have to do?” he added.
Sue Barker was quick to recognise the gravity of Prince Harry’s
comments, as she said: “You’ve just said that live on air.”
Harry saw the funny side, as he quipped: “He’s going to
have to do it now, isn’t he?”
Meanwhile the a representative from Clarence House has insisted that the Royal couple
have no plans to join the 37,5000 runners to take part in the 2013 London marathon, and said that Harry’s comments were
“tongue in cheek”.
That’s a shame – we’d love to run along side Kate and Wills. All we have to do is learn how to
run – we’ve got a year!
