Rick Santorum reportedly met with key conservatives today to figure out a path forward for
his presidential campaign.
Richard Viguerie, a pioneer in using direct mail for politics, told National
Review Online that the Republican candidate is “re-engineering” his campaign.
“It was a discussion of how to win,
not a discussion of anything other than that,” Gary Bauer toldThe Washington Post.
GOP front-runner
Mitt Romney defeated Santorum in three presidential primaries this week to widen his lead in delegates needed for the
nomination. Santorum is now polling behind Romney in his native Pennsylvania, the next big primary contest on April
24.
“You can’t repeat the same behavior and expect different results,” Viguerie told National Review. “We’ve got to
do things different. We’ve got to re-engineer the campaign. We’ve got to add things, take things out, and make changes.
Everyone recognizes that, from the candidate on down.”
