Tiger Woods and Lindsey Vonn have been dating since November. The superstar golfer and skier have found enough time in their busy schedules to take a romantic vacation to Antigua in January and Vonn has been spending time on the slopes with Woods’ kids.
Sounds pretty serious — that is, if you believe the anonymous sources close to both athletes quoted in the Hollywood Reporter, which started the gossip mill churning with a report about the alleged romance on Wednesday.
A “source close to Lindsey” told the Reporter that the two “met through the ski community, because Tiger is an active skier. Lindsey has been teaching Tiger’s kids Sam and Charlie how to ski.”
And a “Tiger source” added that even though Woods and Vonn are often on separate continents, “they constantly talk on the phone. And Tiger has made more of a commitment to Lindsey lately — he’s pulling out all the stops.”
Interestingly, Vonn made headlines in 2010 for poking fun at the then-married Woods’ news conference in which he discussed his infidelity. Then again, who didn’t mock that surreal, staged event?
Still, Woods and Vonn were in Vail, Colo., at the same time back late last year. “We are just friends,” the recently divorced Vonn told the Denver Post. “My brother was the ski instructor for his kids this November in Vail. Guessing that’s where it came from.”
So enough with the rumors already — we want confirmation. Woods’ spokesman has said the golfer will have no comment on the issue, and Vonn’s publicist released this statement: “Lindsey is currently in the midst of the World Cup season in Europe. Her focus is solely on competing and on defending her titles and thus she will not participate in any speculation surrounding her personal life at this time.”
Well, no confirmation there … but no denial either.
All we can do right now is hope that it’s true, if for no other reason than we could combine their names and refer to them as Napoleon Dynamite’s favorite animal: Liger.
