Rapper set to join them for headline set
As London gears up for the Paralympics closing ceremony this weekend Jay-Z is reportedly set to make a guest appearance onstage with Coldplay and we bet it will be an event not to be missed!
The rapper is close friends with Martin after he collaborated with the band on their track ‘Lost’ and joined them on tour in 2009.
“Jay-Z and Chris Martin are close friends so he helped to get the rapper on board,” a source revealed to the Daily Mirror. “They are putting together a spectacular set list – one likely to include a duet.”
According to reports, Rihanna is also set to join Coldplay to perform their hit single ‘Princess Of China’ at the closing ceremony.
The singer has been spotted in London for secret rehearsals for the show, according to the Daily Star.
“All the Closing Ceremony details are top secret but Rihanna has already started rehearsing,” a source told the paper “As soon as Coldplay signed up she was the obvious choice to accompany them on stage.”
The closing ceremony, entitled the ‘Festival of Flame’, will see Coldplay play a number of their biggest hits on the night (September 9).
“The Closing Ceremony is basically a glorified Coldplay concert,” added the source. “They will hardly be off stage.”
“They may only be getting paid a £1 to perform but they will make a fortune in royalties as their music flies up the charts afterwards.”
Chris Martin and co were also approached by London organisers to play the the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games but turned down the opportunity.
