Katy Perry discussed her divorce from Russell Brand on “The Graham Webster Show” on Thursday and said she has tried to keep her personal problems out of her performances.
“I love being onstage, and even though I went through some pretty tough times last year, I had to separate that because I know my problems are my problems and they are not the audience’s problems,” Perry told British talk show host Graham Webster, according to Us Weekly.
Perry split from husband Russell Brand late last year. The British comedian cited “irreconcilable differences” in the documents, which were filed in a Los Angeles Superior Court on December 30, 2011. The couple had no children together.
The divorce filing came a few weeks before Perry’s world tour finished and the pop star worked through the emotional turmoil, continuing her enthusiastic live performances.
“They are here to see a show and to be entertained, so I got on that lift, put a smile on my face and went up with my [expletive] spinning!” Perry said, referring to her candy cane costume which features spinning breast plates.
Following her appearance on the talk show, Perry was spotted on a dinner date with her on-and-off boyfriend Robert Ackroyd, guitarist for the band Florence + the Machine.
The two had been linked since the 27-year-old pop star was photographed at Coachella in Indio, California in April. Perry never confirmed she was dating the musician.
Katy Perry’s upcoming 3D documentary, “Katy Perry: Part of Me,” is slated to hit theaters on July 5 and will give fans an inside view of the pop star’s international tour and personal life, including her relationship with Brand.
