The Vice President of PETA wrote a letter to Lady Gaga, who once told Ellen DeGeneres “I hate fur, and I don’t wear fur,” asking if she had “amnesia” because she has been photographed recently wearing fox fur, rabbit fur, and wrapped in a “wolf carcass” on a promotional photo for Robert Rodriguez’s upcoming film, “Machete Kills.”

In response, the 26-year-old pop star wrote a letter on her official website, slamming the animal rights group for their “childish campaigns.”

“To the fans. I want you to know that I care deeply about your feelings and views, and I will always support your philosophies about life. We’ve been having over-arching conversations about society, equality, and politics for the past five years, and we should continue,” Gaga wrote on August 15. “I do not however support violent, abusive, and childish campaigns for ANY CAUSE. Particularly one that I respect. ‘Animal Rights.'”

The singer went on to reference some of her most famous ensembles, including her “meat dress” and a coat made of stuffed Kermit dolls.

“I am choosing not to comment on whether or not the furs I purchase are faux fur-pile or real because I would think it hypercritical not to acknowledge the python, ostrich, cow hide, leather, lamb, alligator, ‘kermit’ and not to mention meat, that I have already worn,” the singer continued. “This should already put me in a category as one who appreciates and adores the beauty of animals in fashion, but am not a strict vegan.”

The controversial singer also came to the defense of reality star Kim Kardashian, who was once flour-bombed for wearing fur.

“I have truly always stayed away from skinned fur, especially I have never been able to afford a nice one, but this does not mean my morals are rigid and that I won’t bend at the sight of an absolute art piece of a coat. I have no chains about this,” Gaga wrote. “You see a carcass, I see a museum piece de resistance. But I am truly sorry to fans who are upset by this, it’s a fair and applaudable feeling about the health and safety of animals. I respect your views, please respect mine. And to campaigners, Save your flour to make bread for the children who are hungry. And Kim Kardashian is fabulous.”

PETA has not responded to the pop singer’s latest letter.

Earlier in the month, Gaga revealed the name of her upcoming album – “ARTPOP,” via an online photo of her new tattoo of the same name. A release date for “ARTPOP” has not been announced. p>

Lady Gaga is currently preparing to being the European leg of her world tour to promote her second studio album, the 2011 record “Born This Way.” On Sunday, she announced new concert dates – she will perform in South and Central America from October 26 to November 20.

“Born This Way,” which contains the hit singles “The Edge of Glory,” “You and I” and “Marry the Night,” has sold more than 2 million copies domestically and hit No. 1 in the United States and several other countries, such as the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany and Japan.
