Taylor Swift has not confirmed her rumored relationship with Conor Kennedy, but his family has already welcomed the singer into their brood.
“She’s awesome,” Conor’s aunt Rory Kennedy told reporters at Wednesday’s Television Critics summer tour, according to the Associated Press. “She’s a great friend of all of ours.”
Rory promoted her HBO documentary “Ethel” at the August 1 event. Rory directed the documentary, which follows the life of her mother, Kennedy family matriarch Ethel Kennedy.
When asked if she thought Swift would be a good addition to the Kennedy clan, 84-year-old Ethel said, “We should be so lucky.”
The singer met Rory Kennedy when she brought her young daughters Georgia, 9, and Bridget, 8, to one of Swift’s concerts. Rory invited Swift to the red carpet premiere of the HBO documentary “Ethel” in January.
Swift also wrote a song about the Kennedy family, according to ABC News.
The 22-year-old singer is reportedly dating Conor, the son of Robert Kennedy Jr. and the late Mary Richardson Kennedy. Swift and 18-year-old Conor Kennedy have recently been pictured together and in one photo featured in People magazine, Kennedy could been seen with his hand clasped around Swift’s waist.
The magazine also reports that the two enjoyed pizza at Marcella’s Pizza in Mount Kisco, New York, Kennedy’s hometown, on July 25. Swift and Kennedy were spotted out together again on July 29 when they dined with friends in Cape Cod.
Swift talked about her fascination with the Kennedy family in an interview with Vogue in January.
“The only time in my life I have ever been star struck was meeting Caroline and Ethel Kennedy. I got to spend the afternoon with Ethel a couple of weeks ago,” she told the magazine. “She is one of my favorites because you look back at the pictures of her and Bobby and they always look like they are having the most fun out of everybody.”
She added, “You know, eleven kids, all these exotic animals on their property. I’ve read a lot about them.”
The singer was previously rumored to be dating another Kennedy family member, Patrick Schwarzenegger, after the two were spotted hugging during the July 4th weekend. Schwarzenegger is related to Conor Kennedy through Schwarzenegger’s mother, Maria Shriver, who is Robert Kennedy Jr.’s first cousin.
Conor Kennedy lost his mother, Mary Richardson Kennedy, in May when she committed suicide. He will likely be appointed the administrator of her $2.1 million estate, according to The Associated Press.
Swift was recently named at the top of Forbes’ list of Highest Paid Stars Under 30. The singer earned $57 million between May 2011 and May 2012 to help her land at the top spot.
In May, the singer was honored with the award for “Woman of the Year” at the Billboard Music Awards. Swift has not announced the names or release dates of her next single and new album, which she has been working on for the past two years. Her most recent and third studio album, “Speak Now,” has sold at least 4 million copies in the United States.
