Tony Awards 2012: Full list of nominees

The nominees for the American Theatre Wing’s 66th Annual Antoinette Perry “Tony” Awards are set to air live from the Beacon Theatre in New York on CBS on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at 8 p.m. ET.

The new musical “Once,” based on the 2006 film about a two struggling musicians in Dublin who come together to make music and fall in love, earned the most Tony Award nominations wtih 11 nods.

Pulling in 10 nominations each was “The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess” and “Nice Work If You Can Get It.” Other musicals of note were the revival of Stephen Sondheim’s “Follies” and Disney’s new musical, “Newsies,” which earned 8 nods each.

In the play category, “Peter and the Starcatcher,” which is based on a children’s book, earned nine nominations. Mike Nichols’ critically praised “Death of a Salesman” and U.K. import “One Man, Two Guvnors” each earned seven nominations.

Competing for the honor of Best Actress in a play are Tracie Bennett, Stockard Channing, Linda Lavin and Cynthia Nixon. In the Best Actor category, “Salesman” star Philip Seymour Hoffman is up against James Earl Jones, Frank Langella, John Lithgow and James Corden.

“The Amazing Spider-Man” star Andrew Garfield was nominated for a Best Featured Tony Award for his role opposite Hoffman in “Death of a Salesman.”

At the ceremony, Hugh Jackman will be honored with a special Tony Award, for his contributions to the Broadway community and to the Actors’ Equity Association. The actor appeared in “Hugh Jackman, Back on Broadway” in 2011. Bernadette Peters will also be honored, with the Isabelle Stevenson Award, which recognizes individuals for humanitarian and charity work.
