BERLIN (AP) — Police say a car driving in the wrong direction on a foggy highway has caused a pileup in Germany that left six people dead and five injured.
Local police said in a statement that the accident in southwest Germany occurred Sunday morning after the car entered the highway against traffic and crashed head-on with a van near the city of Offenburg.
The five people in the van and the 20-year-old driver in the car died. The two other cars involved in the accident also suffered casualties, with one person seriously injured and four slightly hurt. The accident occurred close to the French border, 30 kilometers (20 miles) south of Strasbourg.
Police did not release the victims’ identities in line with German privacy laws.
