But will Alexa Chung be style icon again?
The nominations have just come in for the British Fashion Awards 2012, the annual bash that saw Alexa Chung take the crown for most stylish celeb last year and features the most celebrated major designers in the UK fashion industry.
And Stella McCartney unsurprisingly leads the way as Designer Of The Year, and if she doesn’t beat Mary Kantrantzou and Christopher Kane after all her hard labour and elbow grease for the London Olympics 2012’s swagged out kit, some would say it would be a travesty.
Burberry and Mulberry have also made the cut for the award, which will be given to a British brand that has made an impact on the international fashion scene. (Ahem, McCartney).
Victoria Beckham has also made the cut for the red carpet award with her innovative creations that have got celebs worldwide chasing after her latest designs for premieres and the like, along with McCartney and Kate Middleton’s fave designer of the moment, Roksanda Ilincic, who dubbed Kate Middleton a ‘great ambassador for Bristish fashion’ just recently.
Yummy David Gandy will battle it out with Burberry regs Cara Delevigne and Jourdan Dunn for the best model accolade – may the hunkiest man win – whilst the Outstanding Achievement Award and British Style award of the year, nabbed by Chung for the past two years, will be voted for by the public. Will she be three times the stylish lady?
Harold Tillman, chairman of the British Fashion Council, who announced the nominees at the Savoy last night, said: ”2012 has been a momentous year and seen a nationwide celebration of British talent.”
“The British Fashion Awards recognise and celebrate the exceptional individuals and brands who’ve defined out fashion industry over the past year and we’re incredibly proud to announce these nominees who represent a cross section of British fashion talent,” he added.
The British Fashion Awards will take place on November 27.
