The Best Lightweight Phone On The Market

Over recent years, phones have got bigger and bigger as the screens have approached and gone beyond 5 inches. With the increasing size, phones have become heavier and now there aren’t so many premium, high-end lightweight phones. This piece will look at the best phones over the last few years, which provide a truly lightweight experience as well as quality performance.

The issue of course is one of direction. Does the future of the smartphone lie in an increased fusion between it and the tablet PC, or will the concept mean that they become so heavy that people shy away from them?

When you look at the last couple of years, there are a number of possibilities to choose. Some higher end, some more mid-range. You have phones such as the Sony Erickson Xperia Arc, the Xperia ray, and even the Vivaz. These phones come in at feather weight, but offer users a good experience for the price.

Let’s skip to the top two lightest 3 g mobilephones:

At number 2, we have the Samsung Galaxy S2

The Samsung Galaxy S2 has a dual core, 1200 megahertz processor, a 4.3 inch screen and an excellent 8 megapixel camera. With a battery that keeps it going for an incredible 710 hours on standby, and 18.3 hours of talk time, it’s amazing that this phone can pack such a marathon performance in such a small space.

The phone has been superseded by the Samsung Galaxy S3 which will soon in turn be taken over by the Samsung Galaxy S4. This phone was released back in February 2011 and has had rave reviews by users and techy websites alike.

And now, for the top spot

The top spot goes to the Apple iPhone 5. Their phone has got lighter and thinner since the iPhone 4 and offers an incredible user interface with powerful performance. It has the dual core, 1300 megahertz processor, a little bit more powerful than the Galaxy S2, and has a slightly smaller screen at 4 inches.

It weighs in at just 113 grams. In the hands, it feels balanced and due to its depth of only 0.3 of an inch, it certainly feels like it has an appropriate weight for its dimensions. Sometimes phones that are lightweight just feel tacky. This phone feels premium and classy as well as looking the part. Its construction is excellent with seams being just about as thin as they possibly can and the materials for the phone being quality and premium.

So, there you have it, some of the best phones on the market that are lightweight. With phones getting bigger and bigger, we are likely to see fewer lightweight phones in the future. The weight seems to be a lower priority, although, slender, thin phones do seem to be in fashion at the moment.

The trends will always change, so let’s see what happens in 2013 as the mobile phone market evolves and customers increasingly get to know what they want and what they like.

Phil Turner has been looking for a 3 g mobile for a while now, as he comes under increasing pressure to stay connected wherever he is.
