If you missed it last night, President Obama and Michelle Obama took in Team USA’s men basketball warmup for the London Olympics at the Verizon Center in Washington. During a break in the action, the Verizon Center’s Kiss Cam zoomed in on the First Couple.

For those of you not familiar with the Kiss Cam, it’s a staple crowd pleaser at stadiums with big screen scoreboards .

Camera operators scan the crowd for couples and beam their faces on the screen for the whole stadium to cheer for them on offer a public display of affection. Some couples do. Some don’t. Almost all blush at being put on the spot.

Of course, the camera operators at the Verizon couldn’t help themselves and put the president and first lady–framed in a Kiss Cam heart–on the big screen late in the first half of the U.S. victory over Brazil.

Obama gamely put his arm around his wife, and the two grinned. But there was no smooch.

The crowd booed with gusto.

But in love–and apparently with kiss cam–there sometimes can be second chances.

Late in the second half, during a stop in play, the Obamas image was beamed on the scoreboard screen again.

This time Obama didn’t hesitate, and gave the first lady a kiss.

The crowd erupted in cheers and chanted, “Four more years.”

No word on how many in attendance live in battleground states.
